IELTS Speaking Practice

Improve your speaking skills with our comprehensive practice exercises. The IELTS Speaking test is a face-to-face interview with an examiner that lasts between 11 and 14 minutes and is designed to assess your ability to communicate effectively in English.

Speaking Test Format

Part 1: Introduction and Interview (4-5 minutes)

The examiner will introduce themselves and ask you to introduce yourself and confirm your identity. They will then ask general questions on familiar topics such as home, family, work, studies, and interests.

Part 2: Individual Long Turn (3-4 minutes)

The examiner will give you a task card which asks you to talk about a particular topic and includes points you can cover. You'll have 1 minute to prepare and then speak for 1-2 minutes. The examiner will then ask one or two questions on the same topic.

Part 3: Two-way Discussion (4-5 minutes)

The examiner will ask further questions connected to the topic in Part 2. These questions give you an opportunity to discuss more abstract issues and ideas.
